More Housing, More Storage: Cochrane Road Self Storage Expands in Morgan Hill
New home construction is behind the expansion of Morgan Hill’s Cochrane Road Self Storage. The new 50,000 square foot development will expand the current 100,000 square foot complex of 694 units by an additional 400 units when completed. This state-of-the-art facility will be the largest in Morgan Hill.
A major factor in the decision to enlarge the Cochrane Road Self Storage facility is the flurry of home construction in the South County over the last few years. “The trend is toward small, multi-family apartments and homes,” says Chuck Toeniskoetter, Chairman of Toeniskoetter Development, Inc., and Toeniskoetter Construction, Inc. “Smaller, higher-density developments increase the need for these self-storage facilities.”
It is estimated that for every 10 new homes, one family will need self storage. This growing need for self-storage is a major niche that Toeniskoetter Development is primed to fill. Cochrane Road Self Storage was originally developed in 1997. Toeniskoetter Development, along with partner Bill Kenney, has successfully managed it for the past 19 years. The facility has flourished. Cochrane Road Self-Storage has been filled close to capacity for a number of years which is a major reason behind today’s expansion. “Self storage is a growth sector,” says Toeniskoetter, “and we’re proud to be involved in this growth.”
Chuck Toeniskoetter and Development Project Manager Todd Trekell are focusing their efforts on Toeniskoetter Development’s self-storage project expansion. More expansion news to follow!
